Custom XML Schema in OpenXML’s WordprocessingML

Filed under: Office Business Application,OpenXML — patrickyong @ 4:59 pm

One of the cool new feature with OpenXML version of word processing (known as WordprocessingML here) is the ability to include your custom XML schema into the zipped OpenXML file. There is a good architecture of separation between the WordprocessingML part (presentation) and your custom XML Schema (the data). So now it boils down to question on how to write a good custom XML schema for your specific business needs. Its takes time and effort to craft a good one but a solid useful XML Schema within your company or your industry will proof to be valuable as a data exchange mechanism both within the company and with partners/ customers. Now imagine having that and used together with Word as a way to present data to users in their own way.

Filed under: Office Business Application — patrickyong @ 4:03 pm

Refering to my previous posting sometimes ago, Biztalk Services is really something too new from MS and there are a lot of question about it. In this video, James Conard talks with John Shewchuk and Dennis Pilarinos about BizTalk Services.

In the simplest definition, BizTalk Services simplifies application connectivity by extending WCF and providing a set of hosted services. John and Dennis quickly explain BizTalk Services by discussing the challenges with building applications today. Dennis also shows four demos of BizTalk Services and then drops into Visual Studio along the way to show the programming model.

  • METATagsGenerator: This ASP.NET 2.0 server control renders HTML <META> tags for each field in the current page’s content type.
